Nelda Vaudine Frost age 86 formerly of San Antonio, TX passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 in Purcell, OK.
She was born February 3, 1930 in Waldrip, TX the youngest of five children. Her parents were Claude Edward Frost and Eula Lavada (Amerine) Frost. Nelda grew up a farm girl in Waldrip where she learned the value of hard work. She graduated from Lohn High School in Lohn, TX in 1946. After high school she attended San Angelo Jr. College, training at Shannon Memorial Hospital in San Angelo, TX receiving her R.N. certification in 1950, then receiving a B.S. Degree in Nursing from Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1966.
On May 25, 1956, Nelda joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served her country as a nurse spanning 20 years stationed in France, Spain, Germany as well as serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. She retired on March 31, 1977 at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Throughout her life, Nelda was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling all over the world. She was a devout Catholic and was blessed by visiting the Vatican several times during her lifetime and receiving blessings by the Popes. After retiring, she settled in San Diego, CA for nearly 20 years moving in 1997 to San Antonio, TX to be closer to her family. In 2014 she moved to Purcell, OK into Sunset Estates Nursing Home due to failing health. Nelda�s nieces, nephews, as well as their children, were like her own children. She lived life to the fullest and loved all she shared it with. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Claude Edward and Eula Lavada Frost. One brother, Claude Lee Frost, Two sisters, Doris Fisher and Martha Dell Fast.
She is survived by: One brother, E. W. Frost of Waldrip, TX. Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Military Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK.
