Iwanna Ruth Frizzell was born to the late Cecil and Ruth Dobbs, March 28th, 1940, in Wilburton, Oklahoma. She passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, in Jones, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years, 2 months, 1 week, and 2 days.
Iwanna was raised in the Wilburton/Bowers, Oklahoma area. She married Benny Frizzell on June 3rd, 1956. They just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Life soon became quite busy for the young couple with the addition of 4 boys within 5 years. The young family moved often, following Benny’s work in the oilfield industry.
Iwanna loved music and shared that love with everyone she could. She became a music teacher and gave private lessons as well as teaching in several public schools. She also enjoyed crafting, gardening, cooking, and backing, especially for big family gatherings. She loved to visit with and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Iwanna was a serious student of the Bible. She loved teaching the Bible and taught a variety of age groups any opportunity she had.
Survivors include her husband, Benny Frizzell of Shawnee, Oklahoma; 3 sons, Jim Frizzell of Shawnee, Dennis Frizzell of Chandler, Oklahoma, and Rod Frizzell and his wife, Penny, of Lindsay, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and an abundance of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Iwanna was preceded in death by her two brothers, Benny Dobbs, and Michael Dobbs; and her oldest son, Frank Frizzell.
