William Thomas Freeman, III (“Tom”) was born July 15, 1944 in Rockford, Illinois and went into Jesus’ waiting arms on May 14, 2023 in Guymon, Oklahoma.
Tom was the oldest son of William Thomas Freeman Jr. and Helen Mae (Baker) Freeman. As the son of an Air Force officer, he lived in several places in the United States and four years in Germany. He graduated from Redlands High School in California in 1962. Tom and Karen Ann Cantor were married October 8, 1965 and made their home in California. They have been blessed with two children, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Tom worked for Bank of America for 20 years, starting as a teller and ending as a local branch manager. Wanting to work more with his hands, he went out and got a contractor’s license and built custom homes for more than six years. In 1987 he began to feel the pull of God’s desire for him and in 1989 pursued God’s call into full time ministry. Tom graduated from Dallas Baptist University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and began pastoring in 1992. He served God for the next 30 years, in Iowa, Kansas, and Oklahoma. In 2017 Tom became the Associational Missionary for the Panhandle Baptist Association and, in 2018, also the manager of Gibson Baptist Assembly. He leaves a legacy of a love for God’s Word, of serving his Lord and loving the people God brought into his life, and the desire to glorify God in everything he did.
Tom is survived by his wife, Karen; brother James “Jim”; sister, Carolyn; son, Owen; daughter, Deborah “Debi”; grandchildren: Amanda, Joshua “Josh”, Michael, Caleb, Andrew, Daniel, Sarah; and his great grandchildren.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held Saturday morning, June 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at the Guymon First Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Carter, pastor and Rev. Ray Kempel of Moore, OK officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tom's memory can be made to Watershed Ministries &/or Mission:Dignity and will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com
