Michael D. Freeman of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday morning, August 5, 2021, at his home at the age of 67 years.
Michael David Freeman was born on December 19, 1953 in Houston, Texas the son of Abner Vern “A.V.” Freeman and Bernis Christine (Potts) Ropp.
He grew up in Oklahoma, attending Blackwell Schools. He was employed at various oil fields until the mid 1990’s. He later worked for the City of Blackwell for the Water Department and the Street Department. He also served at Animal Control Officer until the mid 2000’s.
His hobbies included fishing, playing pool, and hanging out with friends and family. He also enjoyed cooking on the grill.
He married Susan Winterhalter on September 13, 1980 in Blackwell. She survives. Other survivors include children, Michael D. Freeman (Kimberly) of Springtown, Texas, Michelle Hernandez (Michael “Chicco”) of Nardin, Oklahoma, Clayton J. Freeman (Kori) of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Jacob C. Freeman (Seirra) of Guthrie, Oklahoma; step-daughter, Chrystal M. VanDoren (Chris) of Plano, Texas; brothers, Tim Freeman, Ricky Freeman, Terry Freeman and J.R. Ropp; as well as 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Freeman; grandson, Michael Ray Freeman; and nephew, Cody Freeman.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021 in the chapel at Roberts and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Josie Busby officiating.
