David Alvey Freeman

David Alvey Freeman
June 9, 1942 ~ May 30, 2021 (age 78)

David Alvey Freeman was born June 9, 1942 at the Patterson Hospital in Duncan to Norman LaVaughan and Lucille Alvey Freeman. He passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at home at the age of 78 surrounded by his family.

David grew up in Duncan and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through the eighth grade. He then went through Duncan Public Schools with the Class of 1961.

His work ethic started as a paperboy. He attended technical school in Hartford, Connecticut preparing him for a lifelong career with office equipment. He worked for many years with his dad and brother. He joined the National Guard in 1963. He was a Patriot.

David married Marjorie Kiser Hendrix on January 27, 1979. They were married for 42 years.

He had many interests. His love of motorcycles continued until his health no longer allowed him to ride. He went on many trips with Marjie on the back. Lifelong friends were made on those curvy roads, along with his son and daughters following along behind.

David loved cars and motors and was proud to have been a member of the Hi Lifters and Duncan Antique Car Club. He was an avid collector of many things and could never turn down a good auction. He had a great love for animals, including his many dogs, parrot, and stray cats.

David is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Stacey Freeman Foster (Lavoy) of Davis; son, Robert Hendrix (Tracy) of Duncan; daughter, Melaina Freeman Robertson (Greg) of Norman; 6 grandchildren: Choice Foster (Heather), Chance Foster, Taylor Hendrix (Julie), Cale Hendrix, Cole Robertson, Avery Robertson; 3 great grandchildren: Derek, Blayden, Trenton; sisters: Mary Wooten (Harold), Judy Johnson (Mike), Cathy Love, Lynn Summers (Greg); and brothers: Mike Freeman (Arleta), Pat Freeman.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Norman Freeman.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 12, at 10:30 A.M. at Unity Baptist Church with Pastor David McAlister officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
