A Celebration of Life service for Colleen L. Freeman, age 91, Enid, is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Central Christian Church with Rev. Don Johnson and Rev. Lowell Bowman officiating.
Cremation and Service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Colleen was born November 7, 1926, in Hedley, TX, to Tom R. and Grace (Dotson) Morgan and passed away from this life on February 9, 2018, at her home in Enid.
She graduated from Morton, Texas High School in 1942. She married Elvis R. (Jiggs) Baker in 1945. Daughter Donna Ann was born in 1946, and Kay was born in 1947. The girls' father died in 1954, leaving Colleen with two small children and a new restaurant in Lubbock.
Sending her girls by train to Muleshoe to stay with their grandparents during the week, she made the Baker Steakhouse a success, selling it in 1958, and moving to Muleshoe to be live near her parents.
Colleen married James L. Freeman, shortly after moving to Muleshoe on September 6, 1958, and again the girls had a loving Daddy in their home. Jim and Colleen celebrated their 59th anniversary last year.
Colleen had a long and varied business career. Colleen and Jiggs ran restaurants in Morton, Denver City, Levelland, and Lubbock. In Muleshoe, Colleen worked for Fry and Cox, and at Muleshoe Independent School District as the superintendent's secretary.
After moving to Amarillo, she worked at the Texas Tech Pantex Research Center, and Bell Helicopter. In Austin she worked for the Texas Welfare Fraud Division. In Houston she did interior design and furniture restoration and was a SCORE counselor.
Jim and Colleen moved back to Lubbock in 1984, and enjoyed many years of retirement. They traveled to all 48 states by RV; they also saw Europe, Caribbean, British Isles, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, and New Brunswick.
She is survived by James Freeman of the home, daughter Kay and Mack Allison of Enid, grandson Donnie Allison and Terri of Oklahoma City, son-in-law Ricky Kuntz, Dimmitt, TX, grandson Shannon Mason, Robertson, TX, grandson Grady Mason Cleburne, TX, stepson James Mitchell Freeman and Pat of Sallisaw, OK; great-grandchildren Brittney Loth and Glen, Robertson, TX, Tate Mason Robertson, TX, Sabre and Dustin Jordan, Puyallup, WA, Hunter Mason, Cleburne, TX, Makayla Mason, Huntsville, TX, great-great grandchildren Kinley, Steven, and Mason June Loth, and Jadyn, Brandon, Bryce and Dustin Jr. Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Grace Morgan, husband Jiggs Baker, sister Betty Ann Wagnon, daughter Donna Ann Kuntz and two great-grandsons, Taylor Allison and Brandon Mason.
Memorials may be made to Foster Feet and CACS at Central Christian Church, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, P.O. BOX 3501, Enid, OK 73702, serving as custodians of the funds.
