Merrill Gene Fredricks, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 in Oklahoma City. He was 61 years old. A memorial ceremony will be held at Trout Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 10:00 am.
Merrill was born in Ponca City on August 3, 1957 to Bob Fredricks and Jeanie Nelson Fredricks. Merrill attended Uncas Elementary and Ponca City High School. He married his Jr. High sweetheart and love of his life, Jana Sue Tomblin on December 19, 1975. They lived in Ponca City and had their son, Ryan Todd Fredricks in February of 1980. They had their favorite daughter, Courtney Lynne Fredricks Lovers, in March of 1982. He and Jana opened Fredricks Appliance that same year.
His favorite hobbies were watching and caring for his four grandchildren. He was the absolute best papa ever. He had a knack for finding odds and ends and antiques at auctions, antique stores, and garage sales. He was a great gardener, cook and pancake maker. He was an avid animal lover and was known for bringing home all kinds of animals to care for. He also loved to fish, hunt and trap. He also loved to fish, hunt and trap. He enjoyed helping anyone and everyone.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jana; his children, Ryan Fredricks and wife, Brooke of Ponca City; Courtney Lowers and husband, Colby of Greenwood AR; his grandchildren who he could never get enough of, Aubrie Ryan Fredricks, Shelbie Lynne Fredricks of Ponca City, Hayze Remington Lowers, Rhye Henderson Lowers of Greenwood, AR; brother, Rob Fredricks and wife, Norma of Edmond, OK; sister, Adele Shackelford and husband David of Tahlequah, OK; sister, Da Metra Vap and husband Mike of Newkirk, OK; and sister, Shawn Koivisto and husband, Mark of Ponca City.
Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Jeanie Fredricks and grandparents, Robert O. and Elizabeth Fredricks and Glen and Adelene Nelson, and brother, Vernie Fredricks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be make to the Ponca City Humane Society, 900 W. Prospect, Ponca City, OK 74601.
