Bonita Joyce (Berry) Fraser passed away in her home April 6, 2020, at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family. Bonita is survived by her husband of 62 years, Don; children, Teena (Mark) Belcik, Tami Blake, and Heather (Dave) Hennekes; grandchildren Tyler, Hayley, Conner, Caitlin, Andrew, Evan, and Wesley; great-grandchildren Wyatt and Lane; sister, Linda Higgins; sister-in-law, Maurine Atwood; nieces Melinda and Kim, and nephew Chad. Bonita was preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie and Louise Berry.
Bonita was born in Brinkman, Oklahoma, grew up in Cushing, Oklahoma, and attended Oklahoma A&M College (now OSU). Bonita majored in Accounting and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. After she graduated, Bonita moved to Dallas where she met Don. They married in 1958, and raised their three girls in numerous cities throughout the U.S. They returned to Oklahoma City when they retired, and she and Don enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren in retirement. She has been an active member in Pi Beta Phi alumni club, and an active member of Cherokee Hills Church of Christ.
Bonita was a fabulous cook, an accomplished seamstress, she had a beautiful singing voice, and she was the heart of our family. She was the most thoughtful person, never had an unkind word to say about anyone, and she was a devout Christian. Bonita was the most loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, and she was extremely proud of all of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. If they had an event, she never wanted to miss it!
Bonita would like to acknowledge the doctors and nurses at SSM, Stephenson Cancer Center, and MD Anderson who cared for her during her courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Stephenson Cancer Center or the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County.
Services conducted by Buchanan Funeral Home. A celebration of Bonita’s wonderful life will be held at Cherokee Hills Church of Christ at a later date.
