Alice Margaret Franklin, 86, of Perry passed from this life on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in Perry, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday January 31, 2014 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home at 203 Fir Street in Perry.
Alice was born on September 16, 1927 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada to Herbert and Anna Povey. She was raised in the Sault Ste. Marie area and in 1954, she married Clifton Franklin. Alice spent the next 15 years as a homemaker while following Clifton’s military career to Maine, California, Ohio, Florida, Okinawa, Montana, and Texas. From 1971 to the early 1990’s, Alice worked off and on as a telephone operator supervisor for the Pacific Bell Telephone Company. In 1992, Alice retired from the telephone company and relocated to Perry, OK, Clifton’s hometown.
While in Perry, Alice was an active member of the Petunia Unit of the Perry Garden Club. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with the many friends she made in the club. Alice also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a quiet woman who was very shy and reserved. She was selfless and could often be found along side Clifton driving a van load of sick children cross-country to the Shriners Hospital. Alice Franklin was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, a proud grandma, and a trusted friend.
Alice is survived by her husband Clifton of the home. Two daughters: Patricia Larsen of Woodland, CA and Linda Franklin of Dublin, CA. Two grandchildren: Clifton Larsen and Christina Beaty. Two great grandchildren: Liani Larsen and Lillian Beaty
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Alice’s name to the Shriners Hospital for Children in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home 203 Fir Street. Perry, OK 73077
