Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church 825 California Ave., for Johnnie Isaac Fountain, who slipped away peacefully from us to be with the Lord, March 19, 2004, in a local hospital after a brief illness. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Johnnie was born April 26, 1916, in Boley, Oklahoma and has resided in Bakersfield, California since 1946. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during WW II and received an Honorable Discharge. He retired from Operative Plaster's and Cement Masons.
Johnnie Isaac Fountain leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Paulette Fountain; two sisters, Estelle Torrance of Los Angeles, CA and Gertrude Glenn of Topeka, Kansas; one nephew, Frank Fontain; four nieces, Myrna Washington, Marva Johnson, Lenita and Geneva Fountain all of Los Angeles, CA; two nephews reared by Charles and Ruth Fountain, Michael Wafford and Steven Wafford both of Bakersfield, CA; a special daughter and grandson, Oshia Hale and Spencer Kennedy both of Bakersfield, CA; special friends, Robert Carter, Jr., Billy Joe Conners, Johnnie Smith and Gwen Tate; and a host of other relatives and friends.
