Charlotte (Kieffer) Forrester, 80, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma left this earth for her Heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Charlotte Gail Kieffer Forrester was born on November 7, 1944 in Skagg City, southeast of Tecumseh, OK, to Lester Boone Kieffer and Ruth Elizabeth (James) Kieffer.
Charlotte grew up on the family farm east of Tecumseh, and attended Forest View School before going to Tecumseh Public Schools where she graduated in 1962, making many lifelong friends.
As a teenager, Charlotte began working at Morgan’s Pharmacy in Tecumseh where she met the love of her life Floyd Forrester. The two were married on October 21, 1961 and together they built a life filled with love and family. Floyd worked as a milkman and bread man before beginning his long career with Southwestern Bell. In 1977, the family made their home in Tecumseh, where they would remain rooted in the community. Charlotte’s own career reflected her strong work ethic and dedication. She began at OG&E in 1974 and continued there until 1984. She then served as the secretary at Tecumseh Middle School from 1984 to 1987, where she warmly greeted students and staff each day. In 1988, she returned to OG&E, where she remained until her retirement in 1999.
Although Charlotte always worked outside the home, she was deeply devoted to her family and fully involved in her children’s lives. She was a Camp Fire Leader and an FFA Booster Club supporter where she helped get heifers ready to show at the County Fair as well as chaperoning FFA conventions. She helped Floyd on the family farm, raising cattle, goats, chickens, ducks, guineas, ponies, pigs, puppies and kittens, and shooting the occasional snake with Floyd’s pistol. She also coached t-ball and softball for many years, taking her teams to the World Series of Softball in Hutchinson, Kansas two years in a row.
Beyond her role as a wife, mother, and community supporter, Charlotte enjoyed many personal passions. She took pride in being crowned Basketball Homecoming Queen as a Freshman in 1959 and being crowned Frontier Days Sweetheart 60 years later in 2019. She loved playing softball, shopping, sewing, baking and preparing Sunday dinners. She was also handy with any tool, flipping houses before it was “cool”. Later in life she found great joy in caring for her grandchildren, and taking numerous road trips to the beach.
The main thing Charlotte did for her children was teach them to love the Lord. The family originally attended Oklahoma Avenue Baptist Church in Shawnee, where she taught Sunday School and Training Union. She led the women’s Bible study while attending Pink Baptist Church. In her later years, she became a member of Sharon Baptist Church where she remained faithful until her passing.
Charlotte lost the love of her life in 1987, when Floyd passed away at the young age of 47. Though heartbroken, she faced life’s challenges with remarkable courage. Charlotte’s strong will, determination, and resilience carried her forward, and she continued to live with grace and strength, providing a lasting example for her family.
