Albert Duane Forbes

 Albert Duane Forbes, 84, passed away Jan. 22, 2023, at Pratt (Kan.) Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 2, 1938, in Kingfisher to Albert and Trula (Jones) Forbes. Duane married Peggy Earlene (Ostrander) Forbes March 10, 1963, in Chanute, Kan., at the First Christian Church. They were married for 59 years.

Duane graduated Kingfisher High School in 1958. He graduated from Southwestern State College in Weatherford in 1963 and St. Francis Hospital School of Medical Technology in 1963.

He worked for 35 years with Pratt Regional Medical Center in the hospital laboratory.

Duane was a member of First Christian Church, Pratt.

As a family they liked to go camping and fishing with their children.

He enjoyed watching old westerns and old movies. Duane was a big fan of football.

Duane was a member of the Army National Guard in Kingfisher when he was in high school to honor his father who could not serve in WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter Janet Forbes Albert of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother Jake (Wanda) Forbes of Harlingen, Texas; sisters-in-law Emily (Richard) Guentert of Johnston, Iowa, and Rita (Jay) Waltermire of Garnett, Kan.; grandson Travis (Chelsy) Reeder of San Diego, Calif; granddaughter Emily Reeder; two great-grandsons, Wailynn Meads and Tristan Reeder.

Duane was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Kay Forbes; his parents; brother Dennis Forbes; and sister-in-law Glenda Forbes.

Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, with memorial service following at 2 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt, Kan., with Pastor Mike McCovney and Rev. Richard Guentert presiding.

Inurnment will be at a latter date.

Military services by the Army National Guard of Wichita, Kan., will be at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Pratt Regional Medical Center or American Heart Association in care of Larrison Mortuary. Online condolences may be made at www.larrisonmortuary.com.
