Virgil Leroy Foraker

June 23, 1957 ~ July 26, 2015

Virgil Leroy Foraker, 58, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away at his residence Sunday, July 26, 2015 of a heart attack. He was born June 23, 1957 in Joplin, MO, the youngest of three children to Harold and Jennie Marjorie (Griffey) Foraker.

During his childhood, the family moved to several different places including Guthrie, Crescent, Marshall, Mulhall and Joplin, MO. As a child, Virgil attended public school in Guthrie and Crescent and graduated from Mulhall-Orlando schools. He also attended college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater with his primary studies being in the food service sector.

Virgil was employed as a chef and cook at many cafes and restaurants in Oklahoma and Arkansas. He left the food service industry in approximately 2007 due to health issues. Virgil was dealing with several health problems including diabetes, heart and kidney failure, and the amputation of his left leg at the knee. In his ability to cope with his health problems, he was surrounded by several of his close friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, his sister, Marjorie Susan Foraker, and his step-father, Henry G. Haight.

He is survived by his brother, Ralph Harold Foraker of Perry, OK.

Virgil donated his body to the United Tissue Network for medical and educational purposes.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, northwest of Mulhall, with Pastor James Tucker of Mulhall Baptist Church officiating.
