Ima Ruth (Mahan) Flud

Jan. 29, 1930 ~ Apr. 23, 2006

A graveside service will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home for Ima Ruth Flud, age 76, on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Shafter Memorial Park. Pastor Tom Baker of the Shafter Home Fellowship Church will officiate. A public viewing will be Wed. from 2 p.m. til 8:00 p.m.

Ima was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, on Jan. 29, 1930, to Euell and Letha Mahan. She moved to Tehachapi in 1940, and eventually settled in Shafter.

She married Melvin Flud on June 12, 1948, in Las Vegas. Ima was the ultimate homemaker and mother but she also contributed to the household income working as a farm laborer and in the local packing sheds. She also worked as a teacherÕs aide at Richland School. Ima enjoyed going to Laughlin and barbequing with the family. She also loved helping with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. One of her most endearing qualities was how she fiercely protected and supported her family.

Ima is survived by her husband, Melvin, sons, Dale and wife, Donna Flud of Bakersfield, Mike and wife, Susie Flud of Shafter. Siblings, Leon and Betty Mahan of Miramonte, Sonny Mahan of Springville, Wanda Cronian, Goldie and husband, Charlie Henly all of Shafter, Harold and wife, Barbara Mahan of Bakersfield, Norma and husband, Rick Smith of Umatiilla, Oregon, Beverly and husband, Don Weaver of Springville, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Melvin, Dale and Mike would like to give special thanks for the exceptional care given to Ima from family and friends, especially granddaughter-in-law Kasey Flud and grandson, Steven Flud.
