September 10, 1956 ~ October 18, 2023

Rita Fern Floyd passed away from this life on October 18, 2023, at the age of 67, at her home in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Rita was born on September 10, 1956, in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Junior Harold and Esther Fern (Thompson) Fox. Rita moved from Joliet at a young age and attended school in Campbell, Missouri, graduating high school with the Class of 1975. Following high school, Rita began working at K-Mart in Kennett, Missouri. While working at K-Mart, Rita met Danny, the love of her life, and the couple was united in marriage on October 23, 1981, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. The couple established their home in Cleveland, Oklahoma, where they raised their two sons, Jeff and Josh. Rita began working at Walmart, where she remained for several years before starting to clean residential and commercial buildings. In May of 2011, Rita and Danny moved to Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where they have continued to reside. Rita retired in 2020 after 20-plus years.

Rita loved being with her family, especially her grandkids. She was also an avid OSU Cowboy fan, riding motorcycles and taking the grandkids on trips.

Rita and Danny took many trips on their Harley with friends throughout Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and New Mexico. They also traveled to Florida, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Rita also enjoyed attending church and has been a long-time member of the Cleveland First Assembly of God Church. Rita always enjoyed going to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.

Survivors include her husband, Danny, of the home; two sons, Jeff Floyd of Dayton, Tennesee, Josh Floyd and his wife Natalie of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; two siblings, Ellen Tidwell of Mannford, Oklahoma, Jeff Fox of Malden, Missouri; four grandchildren Kenneth, Justin, Bentlee and Gracelynn as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Esther Fox.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2023, at the First Assembly of God Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma, with Pastors Dan Edens and Lyle Fisher officiating services. The family has requested memorial donations be made in honor of Rita to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Friends and family may visit an online guest book and memorial page for Rita at www.chapman-black.com.
