Born 11-11-1927 in Anadarko - died 12-17-2005 at his home in Anadarko.
Grew up in Anadarko where his parents, Homer R. & Nanny (Pack) Flowers, owned and operated Flowers Bakery on Main St.
He graduated from AHS. As a member of the 45th Div. Natl Guard Unit in Anadarko, he was called into active duty during the Korean Conflict. When he returned from Korea, he went to work for the Okla. Dept. of Transportation, where he remained for more than 40 years.
Preceded in death by parents, his 1st wife, Vala Flowers, in 1960, and by his son, Eric Flowers, who was 29 when he died.
His only surviving relatives are 2nd cousins, Steve and "Skip" Hamill, both of Anadarko. He had many friends in the area, including Don Nix, who has been a close friend and caretaker.
Honoring Richard's wishes, he is being cremated, and there will be no services. Steverson funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
