Gayla Marie (Brown) Flores
September 19, 1951 ~ December 11, 2017

Gayla Flores, age 66 of Wayne, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital. Gayla Marie Brown was born September 19, 1951 in Oklahoma City, the baby of 3 children born to Sellman D. Brown and Gladys Cleo (Thomas) Brown.

She was raised in OKC and attended school there, graduating from Classen High school in 1968. She later attended Mid-America VO Tech where she earned her Nursing license through the Practical Nursing Program there. Gayla dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked for many years, both in Lexington and Purcell nursing homes, and most recently at Sunset Estates.

Gayla cherished her family. She was always laughing and up for a good time, and she would do anything to help someone in need. She was an encourager who always did the right thing, and she would challenge you to do the same. She used to love their summer camping trips to Sulphur with her many friends, and delighted in helping care for the children of those friends. When not working, she enjoyed playing on her computer. She was proud of her Native ancestry and a member of the Chickasaw Nation. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her son, Armondo "Mondo" Calderon; Her parents, Sellman and Gladys Brown and Her nephew, Batiste 'Bat' Norman.

Gayla is survived by: Her husband, Boni Hernandez of the home; Brother, Rhett Brown and wife Susan of Moore; Sister, Brownelle Mata of Purcell; 4 grandchildren, Ricky Williams, Isaac Courange, Erin Courange and Marah Courange and 3 nephews, Ruben Mata, Elias Brown and Sidney Brown 1 niece, Dionne Norman and A host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.
