John Curtis Flewellen

John Curtis Flewellen
May 25, 1955 ~ August 7, 2019

Memorial Service for John Curtis Flewellen will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at First Baptist East with Student Pastor Tim Martin, officiating.

John was born May 25, 1955 in Redlands, California to John H. and June E. Flewellen. He served seven years for the United States Army in the Vietnam war. Afterwards, he worked as a government contracted IT specialist. John worked for many years as a substitute teacher and most recently worked as a Personal Care assistant for MacArthur High School. He was incredibly devoted to his students and they loved him deeply in return. John and his wife, Karon created the most fun loving and welcoming household environment. Many kids described the Flewellen household as their “second home”. John’s wife and children were always the most important part of his life. John loved coaching many sports but had a special love for bowling. He shared this with his own children, as well as kids from the local bowling alley and high school. John’s hobbies include fishing, writing poetry, poker, bowling, watching WWE and rooting for the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

John C. Flewellen passed away August 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John H. and June E. Flewellen; and his sister, Marie Gist. John is survived by his wife, Karon L. Flewellen, of the home; his sons, Shaun M. and his wife Melody Flewellen of OKC and Shane C. and his wife Lauren of Norman, Ok; his daughter, Kelsea L. Flewellen of Norman, Ok; his sons, Skyler J. and Slater W. Flewellen of OKC; his grandson Fletcher J. Flewellen of Norman, Ok and his granddaughter, Brooksey E. Flewellen of Norman, Ok.
