Renata F. Fletcher passed from this life on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 23, 1937 in Cologne, Germany.
Renata grew up during World War II in Germany and after losing both parents at a very young age and was raised in a Catholic orphanage until age 18. In 1967 she moved to the United States where her home became St. Louis, Mo. Renata worked in managing apartments and construction projects. She was tenacious and quickly became a pro at any project she put her hands to.
Once, she decided to set her sights on mastering wallpaper and of course she quickly had a waiting list of people who wanted her to wallpaper their homes. All in true Renata fashion! In 1981 Renata and her son David moved to Hendrix Oklahoma. Renata worked for a number of families over the coming years caring for the elderly. Her strong character and compassionate heart made her a forever trusted member of many local families.
One of her biggest passion in life was gardening. Growing up in such difficult harsh times, she loved bringing beauty to her surroundings through plants and flowers. She loved to tell of walking through the gardening section in Lowe’s and “dead heading” the plants, (with permission of course) then take the seeds back home to cultivate them and add to her garden. She had an amazing green thumb and she produced magical gardens every year in her own back yard . Renata was a caregiver and took pride in clothing and feeding the neighborhood kids, and even cooking and delivering food to her elderly neighbors who could not care for themselves. Renata will be miss dearly by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Renata never liked to say “goodbye” to anyone, but rather said “Al Veta Zein”. She believed that you should tell your loved ones that you love them, even if they do not say it back, because you love them and that is important.
Renata is survived by her son David Fletcher of Hendrix, Oklahoma, and two granddaughters, Amber Fletcher, and Ariel Williams, both of Hendrix, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her extended family members Andy Olmstead and wife Stacey of Sherman, Texas and their two daughters Brett Le Olmstead and Michal Olmstead Overturf.
Renata was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Family has requested that if you wish to send flowers, to please send potted plants, so they can be planted in Renata’s garden to help keep her memory alive.
A memorial service is set for Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 4:30pm at Andy
and Stacey’s property at 3422 Georgetown Road in Pottsboro, Texas. Services
are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant,
Oklahoma.
