Steven H. (Flip) Fleming Jr. resident of Norman, OK passed away on December 31, 2019 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK after hard fought battle with cancer. He was born August 26, 1967 in Morgan City, LA. He grew up in Gonzales, LA in his younger years he had a great love of baseball and played many years under his late father, Steve Fleming Sr. After high school, Flip began working in the construction industry, he became a pipefitter and through the years worked his way up in to management roles.
In 2004 an opportunity to work on a project at the Ponca City refinery brought him to Oklahoma. There he met the Becky Vaden and they were married in 2006. Through his career they moved to Davis, OK until 2013 when Flip was diagnosed with cancer, he and his family moved to the Barnsdall area. In 2014, Flip made Norman, OK his home the remainder of his life.
In 2017 after a few years of remission, he returned to the workforce and worked for Custofab until the time his cancer returned. Through his years of working at refineries, paper mills, and pipelines he traveled all over the country even as far as Alaska and the US Virgin Islands. He never met a stranger and made lifelong friends with his work family.
Outside of work, Flip had a passion for drag racing. In his free time, he enjoyed watching, either on tv or at the track and even at times participated. He was a die-hard LSU fan. His favorite past time was spending time with his kids, and his beloved dog, Honey who traveled the country with him.
He is preceded in death by his father Steve Fleming Sr. and his lifelong best friend Kelly Lane Chamblee.
He is survived by his son and daughter Lane and Grace their mother Becky of Barnsdall, OK a daughter Saige, her children Bentley and Evelyn of Staples, MN. His bonus children Caitlyn Eubank of Bartlesville, Ok, Bailey Eubank and her fiancé Michael, and their children Blake, Riley and Jace of Bartlesville, OK and Alex Eubank, his wife Amber and their son Easton of Braman, OK. His mother Laura, of Gonzales, LA and sister Nikki Krieger, her husband Kevin and their daughters Harli and Alex of Gonzales, LA, and his trusty companion Honey. Along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including his special friend Trisha Shaffer.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday February 15, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Barnsdall, OK.
Afterwards the family will receive friends at J Bar S Saloon in Barnsdall, OK
