Carol Ann (Craig) Flanagan, age 79, left this earthly life to meet her Heavenly Father on July 1, 2026, while surrounded by her loving family, at her home SW of Hooker, OK.
Carol was the youngest of five children born to Paul and Irene Craig. She was born on August 29, 1946, in Texhoma, OK. She attended Texhoma Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1964. During her freshman year, Carol met the love of her life, Steven Leon Flanagan. They married April 24, 1966, at the James Church of God, north of Texhoma.
Steve enlisted in the Navy and they moved to Seattle, WA. When Steve was sent to Vietnam, Carol moved to Amarillo, TX to live with her brother, PK. She attended nursing school at Amarillo College. After graduation, she worked at Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital. After Steve returned home and left the Navy, they moved back to Texhoma where Steve went to work on the family farm.
In 1973, they welcomed Jenny Rebecca to the family and in 1974, they welcomed Courtney Steven. Carol was Steve’s constant companion and worked on the farm alongside him. After the kids were in school, Carol went back to nursing. She worked at Dr. Iway’s clinic in Elkhart, KS, Memorial Hospital of Texas County, Dunaway Manor, and finally Guymon Home Health and Hospice until her retirement.
After Steve passed away in 2015, just four months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary, Carol moved to Hooker, OK to live near her children and grandchildren. Carol had a true servant’s heart. She never failed to help where it was needed, taking care of sick relatives, making meals, cleaning houses, or running errands. She attended the James Church of God until it closed and served in many capacities there. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She made it a point to try and attend every event they had and enthusiastically supported their every endeavor. She and Steve loved the Lord and made sure to instill that into their family. They taught their family how to care, love, and help others.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Steve, parents Paul and Irene Craig, brother Jim Craig, sister Mary Nell Eggleston, brothers-in-law Estel Eggleston, Keith Flanagan and Roger Stamper, and father-in-law Jack Flanagan.
She is survived by her daughter Jenny Carnagey and husband Justin and son Courtney Flanagan and wife Angela all of Hooker, OK. Brothers Paul Kenneth Craig of Stratford, TX and Robert Craig of Beaver, OK, mother-in-law Rosella Flanagan, brother-in-law Joe Flanagan and wife Jeanne, sister-in-law Jan Flanagan all of Texhoma, OK, and sister-in-law Koleta Ferguson and husband Jonny of Kilgore, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lane, Landon, and Laken Carnagey, Gabriel, Madelynne and boyfriend Demontray, and Jared Flanagan and great-granddaughter Paisley Carnagey in addition to numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family of Carol will greet friends on Sunday afternoon, July 5th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, July 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Guymon Church of the Nazarene with pastors Kason Oakes and Mike McReynolds officiating.
Memorials in memory of Carol can be made to the Nurse Honor Guard or to Keep Life Jumping 4 Kay, an organization shining God's light on cancer warriors. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
