Robert Dale Fitzsimmons, Sr.

Sept. 5, 1930 ~ May 27, 2010

ENID ~ Robert Dale Fitzsimmons Sr., 79, of Irving, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010. He was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Cherokee, Okla., to Samuel and Grace Fitzsimmons.

Robert married Dorothy Ellen Gilger July 7, 1951, in Ridgelind, S.C.

He joined the United States Army in 1950, where he was stationed in Georgia, New Jersey, Alaska, Hawaii and El Paso, Texas. He retired after 20 years of service.

Robert loved to learn and attended Dallas Baptist University and El Centro. Robert and Dorothy owned Punch and Judy Day School for over 30 years and were members of Oak View Baptist Church since October 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fitzsimmons; daughter, Cathy Williams and husband Kenny; sons, Robert Fitzsimmons Jr. and wife Eileen and Bill Fitzsimmons; sister, Katherine Puffinbarger; grandchildren, Dustin Compton, Alina Nguyen, Derek Williams, Shannon Fitzsimmons; great-grandchildren, Tristan Compton, Kaylee Compton, Jeshurun Nguyen, Huy Nguyen and Ethen O'Neill.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, May 28, 2010, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Chism-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Gerlach officiating. Interment will follow in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
