A Celebration of Life service for Bertie M. Fisher age 78 of Enid formerly of Kiowa, KS will be 1:00 pm Friday September 30, 2022 at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Vernon Lee and Rev. Dan Barrick and Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa, KS under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Bertie was born March 26, 1944 in Dougherty, OK to Farris and Hartie (Roach) Watson and passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022. Bertie was raised in the Dougherty community where she attended and graduated from Sulphur High School. She married Galen Fisher on July 25, 1965 in Pauls Valley, OK. Galen was a funeral director/embalmer and worked for the Dunn Funeral Home in Sulphur, OK. Galen and Bertie moved to Kiowa, KS on December 1, 1971 and started the Fisher Funeral Home and later opened the Fisher Funeral Home in Cherokee. Bertie worked beside Galen helping friends and family in those communities. Galen passed away on October 9, 1995. Bertie continued to operate the funeral homes until they were sold in 1999. Bertie moved to Enid to be close to her family. Bertie went to work for Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home in 2008, continuing that same kind of compassion for the families and friends in Enid. She retired in 2020. Bertie was such a bright light in so many lives. Bertie loved the funeral business and having fun with everyone.
She was a member of the Enid Elks Lodge and Enid Moose Lodge. She loved to travel and going to the casinos with her special friend Jerry “Mr. P” Pierson.
Bertie is survived by her children: Dr. Kevin Fisher and wife Sabra of Tulsa, OK, Gayla Brice and husband Bob of Enid, and Darin Fisher and wife Linda of Enid, grandchildren; Bart Fisher, Courtney Barber, Kemalie Cook, Kale Brice, Cadyn Brice, Karrington Brice, Kennedy, Castyn, Kannon, Kasen, Kaylor Brice, Trevor Fisher, Hailey Fisher, Kayli Pulliam, and Braxtyn Fisher, great grandchildren; Emerson Barber, Landree Cook, Jett Barber, Hayes Barber, Jenner Cook, Kellen Barber, River Lawrence, her sister Patsy Chudej and several other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters, and 3 brothers.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
