Lt. Col. Bill Frank Fisher, age 85, passed away on May 2, 2017. Bill was born June 15, 1931 to Joshua and Norma Fisher of Stigler, Oklahoma.
He graduated from Fort Smith High School, Arkansas, in 1949. After that, he attended the University of Tulsa. He was in the ROTC program and graduated in 1953 with a degree in Music Education.
He married Ramona Armstrong on July 26, 1953.
Bill began his career in the U.S. Air Force and became a pilot of the KC-135 tanker. He was involved in many tours during the Viet Nam War and earned several Air Medals, the Top Three Pilots award, and the Bronze Star. He retired in 1977 and moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where he attended the University of Oklahoma for graduate study. He taught music for a time; became the principal of Living Word Academy School in Oklahoma City; and later served as a regular substitute at Irving Middle School in Norman. He was a member of the Alameda Church of Christ and served as an elder. He sang with the Cimarron Circuit Opera Company and with the Norman Community Choir for many years. He was a member of the Oklahoma Model Railroad Association. Bill had a ready smile and love to give to all whose lives he touched. He lived his life with optimism, enthusiasm and joy.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ramona Fisher; brother, Charles Lyle Fisher; daughter, Billeta Lee, and her husband, Mike; daughter, Sonja Sipe, and her husband, Phil; daughter, Nicole Marcott, and her husband, Marvin; six grandchildren, Rachael Reeves and husband, Matt; Michael Lee and wife, Elizabeth; Todd Marcott and fiance Courtney Montgomery; Phillip Sipe and wife, Bethany; Brett Marcott and wife, Jiwon Kim; and Frances Maynor, and husband Lt. David Maynor; and three great-grandchildren, Gerald Sipe, Fenix Sipe, and Rory Kim.
He is preceded in death by sister, Loretta Smith, and brother, James Fisher.
The viewing will be at Havenbrook Funeral Home on Friday, May 5th from 3:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.
The funeral will be at the Alameda Church of Christ on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m.
He will be buried at the Fort Smith National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 9th at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Bill requested donations to be made to Sooners for Christ or to the Alameda Church of Christ Youth Group.
