Gladys Dolores Fields

Gladys Dolores Fields
October 3, 1927 ~ November 15, 2017

After a long full life, Dolores Fields passed away at home on November 15, 2017. Born on October 3, 1927 on the family farm in Niotaze, Kansas she was raised with a strong work ethic and belief in family which she instilled in her children.

She graduated from Caney High school at the age of 17 and made the decision to enter the diploma nursing program at Weslyan Hospital in Wichita Kansas graduating with the last Cadet Nursing class. Fulfilling her nursing dreams with a long career at Memorial Hospital and Jane Phillips Medical Center spanning over forty years, she held several positions including house supervisor and infection control nurse. During this time she earned recognition in "Who's Who of American Women" and was selected as a goodwill US ambassador to China. After retiring from the hospital she continued her care giving with volunteer work at area nursing homes and clinics and serving as Ombudsman for Washington county.

She enjoyed a good joke, a good game of cards, traveling with her friends and many activities from cake decorating to flower arranging but most importantly cooking and baking for family and friends, always having extra places at the table for unexpected diners.

She was a life time member of the First United Methodist Church, strong in her faith and serving in various ways. Dolores believed in punctuality, honesty and integrity. She said many times her life had been blessed with the greatest blessing being her children, son-in-laws, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

She is survived by Nancy Wake of Bartlesville, OK, Linda and Craig Ferguson of Lee's Summit, MO, John and Toni Fields of Grove, OK, Janis Dragon, Tulsa, OK, granddaughter Lindsey Fields and husband Jeremy Crosby of Buhler, KS. She was preceded in death by her only grandson Troy Ferguson.

As her life was blessed so were her children's and many friends.
