Dr. Jeffrey L. Fielding, a born and raised Cushing resident passed away on February 24, 2014, at his home in Cushing, Oklahoma.
He was born on June 8, 1955, in Cushing, Oklahoma to Dr. William L. Fielding Jr. and Bonnie E. Fielding.
Dr. Jeffrey L. Fielding was united in marriage to Sheree' Kinzie Fielding on May 29, 1976.
He completed his elementary and secondary education in Cushing, Oklahoma, graduating with the class of 1973. He attended Oklahoma State University until being selected into optometry school.
He graduated with his Doctorate of Optometry in 1980 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Upon graduation he began his optometry career in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Two years later he returned to Cushing and established his own practice at its current location where he has served patients for the last 32 years.
Dr. Fielding was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity Oklahoma MU Chapter, the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Guthrie Consistory Master Mason, the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, and the Lions Club.
He was an active member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Cushing serving as Board Chairman and Deacon.
Dr. Fielding had a passion for others - he enjoyed meeting new people and always took time to make those around him feel special. He cherished his wife, four girls, and extended family and valued the time he spent on the farm with his grandchildren. He was an avid adventurer and world traveler of exotic places and different cultures. From climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa and Machu Picchu in Peru, Jeff was always looking forward to the next adventure. He survived a snake bite in Belize, braved the jungles of Costa Rica and Nicaragua, floated the rapids in Myanmar, and mingled with the natives of Thailand during his life journey.
Loving family members include his wife, Sheree' Kinzie Fielding and four daughters, Amanda Turner, husband Mathew, and children Emery, Ella Kate, and William Ford of Cushing, Oklahoma; Dr. Jessica Zwanziger, husband Dr. Brian Zwanziger and daughters, Harper and Violet of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Dr. Chloe' Butts and husband Matthew of Houston, Texas; Dr. Claire Moore and husband Jonathan of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two brothers, Dr. Gregory Fielding and wife Elizabeth of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Dr. Bradley Fielding and wife, Lynn of Edmond, Oklahoma; and many loving family and friends.
Dr. Fielding was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William L. Fielding and Bonnie E. Fielding.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ P.O. Box 489 Cushing, Oklahoma 74023.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 300 E. Moses, Cushing, Oklahoma.
