Glema Lowee (Thurber) Ferrell

Glema Lowee (Thurber) Ferrell
August 11, 1943 ~ October 8, 2019

Glema Lowee Thurber Ferrell, a selfless, caring and genuine individual who loved her family and to visit with friends.

Glema Lowee (Thurber) Ferrell was born August 11, 1943 in Rocky Mountain, Oklahoma. She passed in Muskogee, Oklahoma on October 8, 2019 after a lengthy illness and was greeted in heaven with joy by parents Elmer Madison Thurber and Annah Elnora (Sutton) Thurber, and siblings Christine Thurber, Leonard Thurber, Louise (Thurber) Smith, and Larry Don Thurber.

Left to celebrate her life are husband Freddie Gene Ferrell, son Freddie Gene Ferrell, Jr, and grandchildren Sarah Anne Ferrell, Hannah McKenzie Ferrell and Cooper James Ferrell, extended family and friends.

Lowee attended elementary school at Rocky Mountain in Adair County and Loyal Elementary in Tulsa. A graduate of Cave Springs High School in 1961, she also graduated from Claremore Junior College, now Rogers State University, with an Associate’s degree in business administration. Her corporate career was in Tulsa with three different Oil companies; Skelly, Getty and Texaco, working as an Executive Assistant/Department Coordinator when she retired.

On April 14, 1962 Lowee Thurber married Gene Ferrell and they were devoted to each other for 57 years. They doted on their only child, Freddie Jr. when he came along.

Mom was adamant about teaching the grandchildren good financial management skills and being selfreliant, Ferrell said of his children.

Her grandkids were her heart. “To her grandkids, she was the most selfless and loving woman they knew,” said Ferrell. Her family was the most important thing to her, Ferrell said, “she was very compassionate and often counseled people dealing with difficult issues. People were drawn to her and freely opened up to her about their personal issues. Mom was a great listener and talker!”

She was very creative writing and telling her own children stories featuring “Freddy Frog!”

Glema loved to attend craft fairs and go to Branson, Missouri. Her hobbies included visiting with friends, shopping for her grandkids, finding bargains, her puppy dogs, chickens and taking care of the love her life, her husband Gene.

People have commented on her warm and inviting smile and that she always had a loving hug for them. “She never met a stranger that she didn’t show love and kindness to. She had a radiant light and was someone who perfectly exemplified God’s love.”
