Mary A. Felty, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 79.
Mary was born January 14, 1919 in Humphries, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Andrew Buck and Cora Elizabeth Harrington Buck. She attended the Humphries area grade school. She was married to J.C. Felty on May 15, 1947 at Vernon, Texas. The couple purchased and operated the Hilltop Caf233; of Ponca City in 1969. Mary then worked at Jean's Caf233; prior to working 25 years as the head cook at the South First Street Cobb's Caf233;. The couple owned the Anchor Caf233; on West Highland from 1983 to 1989. Mary was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and her enjoyments included her children, grandchildren, family reunions, gospel music, and in earlier years, bowling.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Wroblewski , her son, Ronnie Felty and wife, Jeri, all of Ponca City; one sister, Gladys Britt, Sparks, Nevada; five grandchildren, Angie Neufeld, Clovis, New Mexico, Keshia Felty, Mea Felty, Stephen Fowler and Crane Fowler, all of Ponca City; two great grandchildren, Greyson Neufeld and Gillien Neufeld.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one granddaughter, Shawn Renee Felty; three brothers, Arnold Buck, Lawrence Buck and Thurman Buck; and one sister, Joann Buck Sartin.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Coy Whitener presiding.
