Daniel Joe "Dan" Felton
July 28, 1956 ~ November 5, 2018 (age 62)

Daniel "Dan" Joe Felton was born July 28, 1956 in Pueblo, Colorado to Jo Ann (Van Vacter) and Bob Felton. He passed away November 5, 2018 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 8 days.

Dan grew up in Cooperton at a young age and moved with his family to Elk City at the age of 5. He attended school at Merritt where he was involved in ag and enjoyed showing animals. He graduated in 1974 and furthered his education at York College and Lubbock Christian University. He participated on the soccer team at York College and was the intramural director at Lubbock Christian University. In December of 1978 he received his degree in Agriculture Engineering.

He was married to Vernetta (Taylor) at Lubbock, Texas on August 18, 1979. After their marriage they moved to Elk City where they raised their children and made their home. Dan had a strong work ethic and worked for BJ Hughes, Dowell and Schlumberger where he remained for 25 years retiring in 2015. Besides providing for his family and spending time with them, Dan enjoyed going on mission trips to Honduras, Tanzania and Louisiana, as well as car restoration, cross country bike trips on his Harley, wood working, and leather crafting.

He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Claude and ElFreda Felton, Joe and Jewel Van Vacter and Wyatt Chandler.

He is survived by his wife, Vernetta, of the home; 2 children, Von Felton and wife, Sara, Edmond, OK and Corbin Miller and husband, Cole, Edmond, OK; 1 granddaughter, Camdyn Miller; his parents, Bob and Jo Ann Felton, Elk City, OK; 1 sister, Vee Ann Fields and husband, Gerry, Elk City, OK; 1 nephew, Mitchell Armstrong, Elizabeth City, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family suggests donations be made in Dan's name to the upcoming #FightLikeAFelton Blood Drive on November 16, 2018 at the 2nd and Adams Church of Christ Family Center, 216 N. Adams, Elk City, OK 73644. If there are those that would like a more traditional donation, the family asks that donations be made to the Tanzania Mission Fund, Hope for Haiti or Westview Boys Home. All donations can be sent to the 2nd and Adams Church of Christ at, P.O. Box 1609, Elk City, OK 73648.

Arrangements are under the direction of Whinery Funeral Service.

The family will greet friends on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
