Joy Fawcett, 93, of Ponca City, OK passed away on July 8, 2024. She had requested to have a private family memorial to spread her ashes.
Joy was born on July 22, 1930 to Floe and Vic Cooper in Hobart, OK. She grew up on a farm outside of Hobart. After attending college in the all-women’s college in Chickasha, OK she moved to Oklahoma City and taught school. She met her husband Fred Fawcett at a dance at the Air Force base in Enid, OK. They married and move to the Bay area in California where Fred was from. While in California they had four children, Fred, Randal, Monique, and Victor. In late 1968 Joy moved with her children to Ponca City. She was employed by CONOCO until her retirement in 1994.
Joy was a devoted mother and grandmother. She would go without too make sure her children had what they needed. Memaw as everyone called her, loved spending quality time with her grandchildren. From a young age Joy was an avid reader. She would read two or three books a week. She also liked to garden.
Joy is survived by her sister, Flo McConnell and her brother Darrell Cooper and wife Dovie, her four children, Fred Fawcett and wife Kim of Kansas City, Randal Fawcett of Oklahoma City, Monique Birch, of Ponca City, and Victor Fawcett and wife Pannarai of Oklahoma City, Grandchildren, Kendra Fawcett, Brian Fawcett, Daniel Fawcett, Victoria Fawcett, Ben Fawcett, Prudence Fawcett, and Dylan Birch. She is also survived by many others, Step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Joy is proceeded in death by her parents, Vic and Floe Cooper, her brother Dale Cooper, sister Shirly Cooper, grandson Ryan Lott, granddaughter Crystal Brown, and her son-in-law John Birch.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Humanity Hospice.
