Coy Ray Farmer
December 31, 1943 ~ February 23, 2024

Coy Ray Farmer of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on February 23, 2024, at the age of 80. Coy was born on December 31, 1943 in Sparks, Oklahoma. He was the son of Rex and Opal (Waller) Farmer. Coy was a 1961 graduate of Prague High School and attended Oklahoma State University following his high school graduation. After his time in Oklahoma State, Coy went to work for Southwestern Bell, where he worked for 35 years. Coy married Peggy “Sue” Smith and the two were happily married for more than 63 years. Together, they made their home in Prague, where they raised their two children, Terry and Peggy.

Coy was very active in the community, especially in the 4H and FFA communities. He was nationally recognized for judging and breeding purebred livestock. He received great joy and pride in mentoring the youth with their livestock projects. Throughout his life he dedicated many volunteer hours to many organizations. He was a member of the National Swine Registry, the American Angus Association, and the Oklahoma Sirloin Club. Coy served on many boards as well, those include the National Chester White Association, the Oklahoma Swine Breeders, the Lincoln County Fair Board, the Lincoln County Farm Bureau, the Oklahoma Angus Association, and the Oklahoma Wild Bunch (a support group of the FFA and 4H). He also served as president of the Oklahoma Chester White Breeders, and the Communication Workers of America Local 6015 AFL-CiO. He also served as the Chairman of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Political Action Committee.

Coy was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Terry Ray Farmer and his sister, Mary Vincent.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of more than 63 years, Sue Farmer, of the home; his daughter, Peggy Jenkins and her husband, Milford, of Stillwater; two grandchildren, Madison Farmer of Shawnee and Dallas Jenkins, of Prairie Village, Kansas; his brother, Troy Farmer, of Welch; two sisters, Joy Marler of Shawnee and Pat Cook of Prague; his brother-in-law, Steve Smith and his wife, Allyson, of Eufaula and host of nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Coy’s honor to the charitable organization of your choice.

As it was Coy's wish for no formal service, the family invites friends and family to a come and go gathering at Parks Brothers Funeral Service on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, where they look forward to sharing stories and celebrating Coy’s memory with his dear friends and family.
