Jerry Fanning, 88 year old Ft. Supply resident, passed away Tuesday September 17, 2024 in Woodward with family by his side. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Jerry Wayne Fanning was born on May 5, 1936 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Lillard Raymond and Mary Ellen (Blockcolski) Fanning. Jerry grew up in May and graduated from May High School. He was united in marriage to Ida Crooks on July 23, 1955 in May, Oklahoma. They were blessed with three sons: Bill, Max and Tom. Jerry worked as a farmer and was the Maintenance Supervisor at Western State Hospital in Ft. Supply. He later owned and operated his own photography business for many years.
He was united in marriage to Judith "Judy" Graham at the Ellis County Courthouse in Arnett, Oklahoma on November 18, 1977. They were blessed with one daughter Heather. Jerry and Judy made their home in Ft. Supply. They enjoyed traveling in their retirement and were fortunate to make many great memories camping and fishing in several tournaments. He also enjoyed water fowl hunting and training dogs to hunt. Jerry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Jerry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ft. Supply. He was also a member of the Woodward Elks Lodge and had served as the Exalted Ruler. Jerry also held a position on the Board of Directors for Professional Photographers of Oklahoma.
He is survived by sons: Bill Fanning and wife Kathryn of May, Tom Fanning and wife Michele of May; one daughter, Heather Campbell and husband Justin of Mooreland; step-son Randy Norris and wife Shelly of Skiatook; daughter in law, Kristine Fanning; 10 grandchildren: Riley Fanning and wife Ashley, Katie Shirley and husband Luke, Kylie Moulton and husband Chris, Jake Fanning and wife Megan, Lane Fanning and wife Emily, Emily Shuping and husband Logan, Sarah Fanning, Carson Fanning and wife Ashley, Susan Mora and husband Luis, Calen Campbell; 16 great-grandchildren: other relatives and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, LR and Mary Ellen Fanning, sister Patricia Lee, wife Judy Fanning, and a son Max Fanning.
