Bobbie Ann Failes, 67, passed away at her home in Cherokee on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. She was born on December 2, 1952, in Fairfax, Oklahoma to the late Robert D. Simon and Fern Kranz.
She attended school at Carmen-Dacoma and worked at the Carmen Nursing Home as a candy striper which inspired her to later obtain her LPN license from Enid’s Autry Vo-Tech in 1986. She spent almost thirty years dedicating herself to the care of others. She worked most of her career at the Cherokee Manor in Cherokee and ultimately retired from The Great Plains Care Center in Helena.
Her care for others extended far beyond the workplace. Bobbie dedicated her whole self to her family. She was the self-appointed matriarch, a self-avowed smartass, and Grandma Extraordinaire. Always showering her kids and grandkids with love and affection, there was never a shortage of hugs and kisses. She went above and beyond to make sure they knew how much she loved them. From the goodie bags full of snacks, clothes, toys or books, Bobbie thought of everything. She loved spending time with each grandchild, taking special care to create memories. Those memories will include cookie-making, trick-or-treating, rock hunting, thrift shopping, and being outdoors enjoying nature together. She loved music, mountains, plants, rocks, and birds, and she always knew what to pack for a camping trip. Bobbie was a die-hard Sooner fan, just like her mom who was also her best friend. The two could often be found boogeying to music together. Aside from her parents, children and grandchildren, Bobbie’s biggest treasure was her beloved husband, Larry. The two complemented one another perfectly and were inseparable, even until the very end. Never has a more loving couple been seen.
She is survived by her parents, Doug and Fern Kranz of Alva; her husband and best friend of 32 years, Larry Failes, and her children, Tommy Sanborn and his wife, Stacy, and Tonya Tullis. She will also be greatly missed by her sister, Dana Franklin and brother, Steve Simon. Bobbie leaves behind six grandchildren: Gage, Katelin, Sydney, and Jagger Sanborn, Jadyn and Keyauna Heidrick; great-grandchild, Cayden Reed, and nieces and nephews.

Bobbie will be missed by all who knew her.
