Karen Jean Fadling, beloved wife, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed into heaven on Friday, June 24, 2022, at the age of 79 years, at her home in Cleveland, OK.
Karen was born June 13, 1943, in Stillwater, Ok, to Kenneth and Dorris (Nugent) Boyles. Karen began her education at Hillside Grade School in Cushing, OK, through 8th grade, moving on to Cushing High School until halfway through her senior year. In January of 1960, the family moved to Freer, Texas, where Karen completed high school. Karen attended Nursing College in San Antonio, Texas, briefly until the family moved back to Cushing.
Karen married Larry Fadling on June 2, 1962, establishing their first home in Jacksonville, Arkansas while Larry was stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base. Their first child, Cindy, was born in 1963. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force in July of 1965, Larry moved his young family to Cleveland, OK, where he began working at Deep Rock Refinery. Their second child, Jenny was born in October of 1967. Karen began working with her mom, Dorris, at Boyles Auto Parts in 1972. Karen then worked at the Baptist Retirement Village in Cleveland when it opened in 1983, later transferring to the Owasso campus. The drive to Owasso became a special time of prayer, very important to this faithful Christian lady. Karen & Larry welcomed their third child, son, Zac, in July of 1979. Karen enjoyed employment with Palace Drug in Cleveland until she retired.
Karen was very active in many areas at First Baptist Church Cleveland, teaching a senior adult ladies class for several years, serving with Larry as Preschool Directors, and many other areas of the church. She loved to serve others, giving unselfishly of her time and efforts.
Karen was an accomplished seamstress, making most of the girls’ clothes including prom dresses and a wedding dress. Her love for baking knew no bounds, making made-to-order cakes for birthdays, weddings, or any special occasion, taking great care to make them “just right.” Fond memories include her Easter cake, USA Jello, pies, cinnamon rolls, cookies, etc., just to name a few. She loved African violets, and had quite the green thumb when it came to helping them grow.
Karen is survived by her husband, Larry of the home; two daughters, Cindy Kearney of Coweta, and Jenny Jones of Cleveland; one son, Zac Fadling (wife Sarah) of Cushing; two sisters, Debby Presley (husband Gene) of Sapulpa, and Barbara Meigs (husband Roy), of Cleveland; grandchildren Kacie Green, Brooklyn Winn, Taylor Sawyer, Brad Dover, Cole Quesada, Destiny Quesada, Seth Wenger, Dylan, Ethan, and Layla Fadling; twelve great grandchildren, plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her Dad and Mom, and her brother David.
