Michael Allen "Mike" Ewing Sr.
July 29, 1955 ~ October 28, 2017

Michael Allen Ewing Sr. (Mike), 62, of Lawton, OK went to his heavenly home to be with The Lord, Oct. 28, 2017, with his loving wife, Claudia and son Michael by his side, at home. His funeral will be held Wed. Nov. 1st at 3:30pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 910 NW 38th St. Lawton, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to "Puppies Behind Bars". www.puppiesbehindbars.com

Mike was born in Marietta, OH July 29, 1955. He always loved dogs and grew up loving them, training them, and keeping them as the best friends that they were. He was a man of God, Family and Country. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1973, and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Cameron University, Lawton, OK in 1999. Because of his great love for his country, he joined the US Army in July of 1979 in Plant City, FL, where he served valiantly and honorably as an MP and Dog Handler, until January of 1994 when he was medically discharged. During his years of service, he received the following awards and decorations: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon 2AWD, Army Good Conduct Medal 5AWD, Rifle M16 Marksman; At the United States Police Canine Association trials, he and his canine partner Rickey won the award for Agility. 

On Oct. 10, 1975 he married the girl next door, the love of his life, Claudia L. Ewing. Together they traveled the globe with the Army. He was stationed at Ft. Jackson SC for Basic, then Ft. McClellan AL for AIT, then they went to Ft. Hood TX, Baumholder Germany, Ft. Sill OK, then Vicenza Italy, then back to Ft. Sill, where they made their permanent home. Along the way, he became a father to 3 wonderful children, Laura, Michael and Billy. He was heavily involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. His love of dogs carried through his military career as he trained 7 dogs as an MP, and over the course of his 42-year marriage to Claudia, he trained 7 additional dogs at home in their family. He loved Sci-Fi shows such as the original Star Trek, X-files, and numerous other shows. He enjoyed several games, Sambra, Cribbage, and Pictionary.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence R. Ewing and Sadie Ewing, and brothers Howard R Ewing, and Leonard Ewing.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Claudia L. Ewing, of Lawton, OK, daughter Laura A. Russell and son-in-law Stephen Russell of Norman, OK, son Michael A. Ewing Jr. of Lawton, OK, son William(Billy) R. Ewing and daughter-in-law Wendy Ewing of Bremen, AL, sister Janice L. Schultheis of Reno, OH, grandchildren Tyler Biles and Gabriella Perez of Lawton, OK, Joseph, Christian and Bianca Perez of Bremen, AL, great grandson Maddox Perez of Lawton, OK, an abundance of nieces and nephews, many loving friends, and his beloved dog Robby, as well as Sephie and Daisy.
