Funeral services for William "Bill" Evans, 79, of Ninnekah are pending with Ferguson Funeral Home.

William "Bill" Evans was born April 22, 1928. He died July 8, 2007, in Chickasha.

William "Bill" Evans

A memorial service for William "Bill" Evans, 79, of Ninnekah will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2007, in the Alex School Auditorium.

Bill's sunrise was April 22, 1928, in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma. His sunset was July 8, 2007, in Chickasha.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Malawi/Namikango Mission Hunger Relief Fund, P.O. Box 21, South Houston, Texas 77587.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

William "Bill" Evans

July 8, 2007, sunset came for Bill Evans of Ninnekah at age 79. Bill's sunrise was April 22, 1928.

He is survived by his wife Bobbie and three daughters, Janet Howard, Janice Cockrum and Donna Stewart, three son-in-laws, 9 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.

Bill retired from Standard Oil as a draftsman. He used his drafting skills to plot the Ninnekah Cemetery and the Muncrief Cemetery. He helped restored the Muncrief Cemetery. Bill was an ordained minister and an elder of the Riverview Church of Christ, Bakersfield, California for 17 years and an elder for the Alex Main Street Church of Christ for 9 years.

Bill was a skilled scroll saw operator and made over 400 wooden hearts which he sent to couples who were married 50 years or more. Bill donated 21 gallons of blood. He coordinated the construction of the Boswell Baseball field at Ninnekah. He and his wife were nominated as Volunteer of the Year for Ninnekah and Grady County. Bill enjoyed reading and had a great curiosity for knowledge.

Being a Christian was his first priority in life and his second priority was his family. He was an gardener who produced vegetables which he gave to family and friends.
