Stella (Guthrie) Evans

Jan. 25, 1909 ~ Aug. 19, 2004

CANADIAN - Stella Guthrie Evans, 95, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with Jerry Golden, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Evans was born Jan. 25, 1909, to Hiram Mayes and Leafy Grace Wagner Guthrie. She was married to Paul Evans on April 2, 1933, in Arnett, Okla.

Stella was a lifelong resident of Canadian. She was a practical nurse for some years and was also employed at Canadian Laundry and Dry Cleaning for 10 years. Stella was a graduate of Canadian High School. She was also a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985.

Survivors include a brother, Frank Guthrie of Canadian; two sisters, June Goza of Ryan, Okla., and Judith Warren of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Abraham Memorial Home, 803 Birch, Canadian, TX 79014.
