George David "Dave" Eubank

George David "Dave" Eubank, of Ponca City, OK, died at home surrounded by loving family on April 10, 2014. He was 79.

George was born October 1, 1934 in Texarkana, TX, the son of George and Lois Eubank. He married Virginia Harrison on February 18, 1956 and together they had two sons, David George Eubank and Jeffrey Harrison Eubank.

George was raised and attended public schools in New Boston, TX, then Fairfax, OK, graduating Fairfax High School in 1953. He graduated Oklahoma State University in 1957 with a teaching degree. While attending college, he was a member of the 45th Infantry Division of the Oklahoma National Guard.

In 1957, he began a thirty-three year teaching career. From 1961 to 1990, he taught at West Junior High School in Ponca City. Prior to that time, he taught in Henrietta and Douglas, OK. He coached football, basketball and track at various times throughout his teaching career. He spent his summers and time not teaching running a residential and commercial painting business.

George was a longtime member of Community Christian Church in Ponca City. He enjoyed attending OSU athletic events, and was a supporter of the YMCA of Ponca City.

His devotion in life was to his family.

He is survived by sons, David and wife Sharon of Bartlesville, OK, and Jeff of New York City, NY; grandchildren, Audrey Eubank Harris and husband Scott, David Harrison Eubank, and Katherine Grace Eubank; one great granddaughter, Lillian Yvonne Harris; brothers, Dan Eubank and wife Carolyn of Trinidad, TX, and Jeff Lanier and wife Margaret of Houston, TX; sister in law, Frances Lanier of Alvin, TX; brother in law J. Berry Harrison and wife Jackie of Fairfax, OK; nieces and nephews, including Bob Eubank and wife Patti, Bill Eubank and wife Vanessa, Pattie Lanier Landriault and husband Jim, Rachel Lanier Gillett and husband Chris, Jeffrey Lanier and wife Erin, Dru Halverson and husband Rusty, Virginia Paige Covington, Tracie Harrison Redden, Berry Harrison and wife Karen, and Holly Harrison Bair and husband Wade; cousins, including John Michael Martindale and wife Dorene and their sons Chris, Jeff and Mike and wife Kristy; and numerous other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; his parents; his step father James W. Lanier; his brother, Jim Lanier; and his brother-in-law, J.D. Harrison.

A memorial service and a reception to follow will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Community Christian Church, 2109 W. Grand, Ponca City, OK, with Rev. Susan Payne and Chaplain Tom Howard presiding.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Grace Memorial Chapel, 2016 N. 14th St., Ponca City, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers or food, memorial contributions may be made in George's name to a charity of choice or to YMCA of Ponca City, 1604 W. Grand Ave., Ponca City, OK 74601, or to McCord Senior Citizens Center, 115 Mary Rd., Ponca City, OK 74604.
