Ida P. (Colyer) Etchells

November 14, 1916 ~ 1979

Mrs. Charles E. (Ida) Etchells, 62, 2909 W. Pine, died early Tuesday in a local hospital after a period of ill health.

Mrs. Etchells was born November 14, 1916, in Hawthorne, New Jersey. She grew up in the Hawthorne and Paterson areas, attended school in Long Valley and graduated from high school in Hackettstown, New Jersey.

The former Ida P. Colyer, she and Charles E. Etchells were married in New York City in 1937. They made their home in Hawthorne until moving to Oklahoma in 1969 to be near their daughter, then moved to Enid in 1976.

Mrs. Etchells was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Enid and the Order of Eastern Star in Hawthorne. She was also a supporter of the Northern Oklahoma Handicap Organization (NOHO).

In addition to her husband Charles of the home in Enid she is survived by her mother Mrs. Ida Lance, Enid; a daughter, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Robinson, Enid; a son, John E. Etchells, Titusville, New Jersey, and four grandchildren. Her father and step father preceded her in death.

Mrs. Etchels' family has suggested that those who wish make contributions in her memory to the Bass Baptist Hospital. Henninger - Allen Funeral Home will serve as custodian of the memorial fund.

The body of Mrs.Etchells will be flown to New Jersey by Henninger - Allen where funeral services will be held Friday in the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home Chapel in Hawthorne. The Rev. Robert Colyer will officiate and Mrs. Etchells will be buried in the Lower Valley Cemetery in Lower Valley, New Jersey.
