Ruben David Escovedo

Ruben David Escovedo
March 29, 1941 ~ March 14, 2024

Ruben David Escovedo, 82, of Blanchard OK, formerly of San Marcos, California, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, in Oklahoma City. Ruben was the son of Victor Escovedo and Petra (Esperanza) Garcia, he was born March 29, 1941, in Banning, California.

He grew up in Banning, California and graduated from Banning High School in 1960. Ruben married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Fae Hall, on May 5, 1962, in Banning, California. She’s known to many as “Pat” but will forever be known as “Hunners” to the man we are all gathered for today. He was employed by Novartis as a pharmaceutical sales representative and retired after forty years of service. Ruben served as a deacon at the Meadowlark Community Church in San Marcos, California where he was very involved in the Men’s Ministry. After his retirement, he and his wife surrounded themselves with their kids and grandkids in their loving home. Yard work on Saturdays, BBQs on Sundays, and a new 9 to 5 of pure fulfillment. Ruben and Pat moved to Blanchard five years ago where he was a member of the Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle. In his spare time, he liked woodworking, restoring old furniture, making gizmos and gadgets, and working on his 1965 Chevy El Camino. Ruben’s greatest enjoyment was being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Ruben made friends everywhere he went. Calling people “handsome” and “good looking”. He could smile at a frog, and it would follow him all the way home. Ruben’s faith spanned far and wide, high and low. He trusted, he loved, and he lived through the Lord’s faith. Ruben was the biggest hero in his children’s stories, the jokester no one asked for, the untraditional handyman, the man with unsolicited and solicited advice, the most loving husband, and a Papa eternally held in the hearts of his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Escovedo, and Petra and Miguel Garcia; two brothers, Victor Escovedo and Mike Garcia; and one sister, Julia Martinez.

Ruben is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pat Escovedo, of Blanchard; two daughters, Kimberly Silva of California and Shannon Rodriguez and her husband, Eric, of Colorado; one son, Ruben Escovedo, II and his life partner Matthew Esposito of California; six grandchildren, Spencer Silva, Riley Silva, Zoe Silva, and Lacee Silva all of California, and Poppy Rodriguez and Maddi Rodriguez both of Colorado; one sister, Maria Clawson and her husband Larry, of California; numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved like his own kids; and many other loved ones and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Ruben’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at
