Marjorie Elizabeth "Betty" (Langford) Ernst

Marjorie Elizabeth "Betty" (Langford) Ernst
June 16, 1937 ~ June 24, 2015

Betty was born June 16, 1937, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of Jesse M. and Marjorie F. Richardson Langford and passed away peacefully on June 24, 2015.

She was raised and educated in Enid, graduating from Enid High School with the class of 1954.

She had a much-loved sister, Barbara Munday, and numerous special cousins, aunts, uncles and her "Fav" of all, cousin Dick Lowe.

She had grandparents and great-grandparents, (the Langfords, Richardsons and Hungerfords), all helped "settle" parts of Garfield, Alfalfa and Blaine counties.

Betty married Lt. William Ernst in 1955. To this union, two sons, Tim and Steven, were born.

Betty returned to Enid in 1965, where she worked as a switchboard operator at St. Mary"s Hospital. She worked several years at Midwestern Life Insurance and from February 1973, Betty served the city of Enid for over 25 years, working under many city managers as Executive Secretary. Betty worked evenings for over 12 years at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home as a receptionist. She worked for a few years at the CDSA.

She enjoyed retirement, as she had more time to spend with her "special blessings," because in her family, she was known as "Gramma Betty."

Survivors include Tim and Tammy Ernst of Edmond and Steven and Carolyn Ernst of Papillion, Neb.; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Matthew, Patrick, Weston, Tyrus; and two great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in passing by her parents, her sister, a sweet aunt, Freda, her closest friend, Marie, and companion, Vince.

(Mom's favorite donations were the St. Judes Children"s Hospital and Wounded Warrior Veterans.)
