Barbara Sue (Klink) Erickson

Barbara Sue (Klink) Erickson
August 10, 1943 ~ April 23, 2018

Barbara Sue (Klink) Erickson, formerly of Enid, died April 23, 2018, at her home in Ballwin, MO, surrounded by family after a courageous, three-year battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Born Aug. 10, 1943, in Georgetown, IL, she was the daughter of Paul and Mary Aileen Klink, both of whom preceded her in death.

Barbara was a 1961 Honor Society graduate of Georgetown High School where she was the school's 1960 homecoming queen. She married James (Jim) Erickson on Sept. 2, 1962, in Danville, IL. He survives along with three children: Susan Shewey and her husband Brian of Enid; Laura Boyd and her husband Steve of Manchester, MO; and Paul Erickson and his wife Debbie of Huntsville, AL. She is also survived by three brothers: Bill Klink and his wife Donna of Peoria, AZ; Bruce Klink and his wife Regina of McCordsville, IN; and Dr. Brian Klink and his wife Lynn of Vacaville, CA. Barbara's legacy continues with her seven grandchildren: Megan Shewey and her fiancée Jacki Bradshaw; Katie Shewey Gras and her husband Matt; Rachael Shewey; Dana Sturges and her husband Mark; Daniel Erickson; Matthew Boyd, and Kristen Boyd.

Barbara was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young but spent many hours volunteering at school, leading Brownie and Girl Scout troops, leading Vacation Bible School, and volunteering in nursing homes. She later worked as a teacher's aide in Farmington, MI, and in the commercial loan department at a St. Louis bank. She also worked as an office manager for Dr. Steve Durr in Enid and later for a suburban St. Paul, MN, insurance agency.
She was active in public schools and in churches the family attended, including First United Methodist Church in Enid, and was a member of PEO, Chapter FS, while in Enid.

Known for her cooking, sewing, cross-stitch work, knitting and cake decorating, she would often lend those talents to school and church groups. She crafted many handmade blankets and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for her grandchildren and sewed all the confirmation stoles for her three Enid granddaughters and their fellow confirmands. When her daughters wanted to create fabric window blinds, valences, pillows, or other items for their homes, Barbara was the person to call.

She loved tomatoes, watching for hummingbirds, trips to Colorado and the Caribbean, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and seeing her grandchildren in their activities. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Grandma Bobby was a gentle, caring, generous person loved dearly by friends and family.

The Schrader Funeral Home of Ballwin, MO, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manchester, MO, with a memorial service following at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the "Feed My Starving Children" mission program at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Siteman Cancer Center or to the Barnes Jewish Christian Hospice program.
