Vern Ray Epperson passed away on September 3, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. He was born July 7, 1950 in Ulysses, Kansas to Lawrence and Ethel Epperson.
In July 1978, he married the love of his life, Betty Jean Bross. He served in the United States Navy for four years during the Vietnam War upon the U.S.S. Niagara Falls as an Electrical Repairman where he received a National Defense Service Medal.
After leaving the military he worked as a welder at Autoquip. He affected many lives along the way and later became Pastor of Shepherds Walk Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, mother Ethel Epperson, sister Yevette and Ralph Lane, brothers Larry Epperson, Woody and Val Epperson; mother-in-law Beth Bross, brother-in-law Fred and Andrea Bross; four daughters: Pam and Bert Fox, Sheri and Henry Stevenson, Sabrina Epperson and Sam Roach, Melinda and Demetris White; two sons: Terry Epperson, Kevin Epperson and Dayzhawn Mobley. Vern is also survived by his grandchildren: Arron Fox, Amber Fox, Kayla and Zach Garland, Stanton Stevenson, Paige Stevenson, Cameron Weir, Courtney Weir, Camille Weir, Ayana and Aiden White. Not to forget, and far too many to name, the many other children adopted along the way.
He is preceded in death by his sister, father, stepfather and father-in-law.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 12, 2015 at First Assembly of God Church conducted by Rev. Don Gatlin, Rev. Richard Boyles and Sabrina Epperson. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
