Thomas "Tom" Joseph Epperson passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 67 years old. A Celebration of Life was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at The Springs Event Center, 7479 W. Simpson Rd, Edmond, OK 73025.
Tom was born on October 13, 1957, to Dwight Edwin Epperson and Margaret Carol (Helean) Epperson in Shawnee, Okla.
Tom and his family lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma City, North Carolina and then back to Shawnee.
He graduated from Shawnee High School. He then obtained an Associate degree at St. Gregory's in Shawnee and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University.
Tom's adult life included various career experiences. Upon graduating from OSU, Tom worked with various firms as a CPA and had his own practice. Other opportunities lent to raising parakeets, owning a restaurant, but building bridges was what he enjoyed the most. The love of being outdoors, managing all aspects of the "build" and always giving attention to the details gave Tom much satisfaction. He was first exposed to bridge building through working for Abercrombie Construction in his younger years. There are stories of enjoying the use of dynamite! Some of his favorite hobbies included cooking unique dishes, (including well known omelets), fishing and trips to Creede, Colo.
Tom and Sally were married on a beautiful sunny day on April 19, 2008. Even though he didn't have children of his own, he embraced Sally's two daughters, Erin and Lori and loved becoming "Papaw" to five wonderful grandchildren. Millie, Greta, George, Leighton and Quinn brought great joy to his heart. He is preceded in death by his father, Dwight and sister, Laura Rolando.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sally, mother Carol Epperson, sister Susan Hofstetter and husband Ed, sister JoAnn Minnich and brother Jim Epperson. He enjoyed being an uncle to eight nieces and nephews. Tom will be missed by a host of extended family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Abercrombie, Louis Abercrombie, Jay Nowlin, Andrew Minnich, Matthew Hofstetter, Michael Hofstetter, Adam Kopf, Travis Kopf, Brent Bolerjack and Blake Stewart.
