Donald Lee Englett

Donald Lee Englett
July 11, 1954 ~ January 20, 2020

Donald "Don" Lee Englett, Junior aka "DL," aka "Donald Duck," 65, of Alva, Oklahoma, passed away quietly in his sleep Monday, January 20, 2020, at Windsor Hills Nursing Center in Oklahoma City. Don was born July 11, 1954, to Donald Lee Englett Sr. and Loretta Jane (George) Mantzke.

DL was an easy going, laid-back person who enjoyed talking and making friends. He liked playing pool and fishing. One of his talents was being able to talk like Donald Duck, which is how he got his nickname. Don's real passion was cars: collecting, driving or just tinkering on them. As a young man, Don had a serious case of wanderlust. He traveled all over the country but always came back to Headrick, Oklahoma, to visit family and friends. In 1999, all that changed when he put down roots in Alva, Oklahoma, so he could be close to the daughter and son of his heart, Rachel and Kenneth Shiplet. He was a long-time resident and valued member of the community.

He was preceded in death by his father Don Englett, mother Loretta Jane George Mantzke, his stepfather Frederick "Red" Mantzke, brother Gerald "Jerry" Englett, sister Nona Moore, nephew's Brett Englett, Robert Shiplet, and Vic Englett.

He is survived by siblings Linda Plaster, Joan Williams, Loretta "Lori" Saunders, Tammy Hawkins, Kimberly Englett, Frederick " Freddy" Mantzke; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family – too many to mention.

There will be a celebration of life memorial with friends and family at a later date.
