Karen Lynne Emmott
April 11, 1945 ~ June 27, 2021

Bartlesville - Karen Lynne Emmott passed away peacefully at her home in Bartlesville, OK on June 27, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Cameron Emmott M.D., and Isabel Graeme (Wright) Emmott.

Born in London, Ontario, Canada on April 11, 1945, Karen, the oldest child, came with her family to the U.S. in 1946. The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1958 where her father completed a residency in urology. It was there in 1960 that "Queen Bee" sustained permanent brain injury during a minor surgical procedure. Comatose for several months, she emerged to find her world drastically altered. She lived with her injuries and fought to overcome them, but her life was never to be the same. Despite her condition, Queenie maintained a courageous attitude, loving smile, and a wickedly funny wit. She readily drew affection from her family and terrific caregivers who held steadfast devotion to her until her last breath.

Karen is survived by three sisters, Susan Margaret Davis of Fredricksburg, VA, Martha Jane Emmott of Lexington, KY, and Isabel Anne Emmott of Eustis, Florida; three brothers, Ralph Cameron Emmott Jr., M.D. of Hillsborough, California, David Fielding Emmott, M.D. of Prairie Village, Kansas, and Peter Ian Kent Emmott of Springfield, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

We celebrate our big sister's transition to a place where she can once again be a feisty young lady enjoying hugs from Mom and stealing cigarettes from Dad. In a recently found journal of Isabel's she wrote that the one thing she wished for more than anything was for Karen "to be whole again." Now all our hopes and prayers lie within that sentiment. -You are whole again, Queenie!

A private memorial service will be held in her memory and honor at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bartlesville on August 28th. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Online condolences can be left at www.honoringmemories.com.

The family expresses great gratitude to the staff at Ability Works and Oklahoma D.H.S. for their many years of devoted care and to Cornerstone Hospice for assisting us in her final days.

Donations in her name should be sent to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
