James D. Emig Sr.

James D. Emig Sr.
October 19, 1943 ~ January 6, 2022 (age 78)

James D. Emig Sr. passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his home in Lawton. He was 78 years old.

James was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 19, 1943 a son of Adon and Evelyn (Barr) Emig. He lived the majority of his life in the Kalamazoo/Plainwell area. He worked at Georgia Pacific in Kalamazoo for 30+ years and retired from the company. He was an animal lover through and through. He loved animals of all kinds, but he especially had a love for cats and dogs. James would always make friends with chipmunks and squirrels wherever he went. He loved to go to the park to feed and watch the ducks and other wildlife. He also loved his Harley. Whenever he could, he would be riding; enjoying the fresh air and smells that one can only experience in the open air on a bike. He would take off and ride for hours with no set destination. He was also an avid Detroit Tigers/Lions fan. In 2016, he moved to Lawton to live with his son and family. While there he was able to experience many adventures and go on trips with the family. He enjoyed spending time in Louisiana with extended family. He especially loved the family dog Kilo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Karolyn McDonald; and a brother, Don Emig. He is survived by a sister, Sharon Holysz of Kalamazoo and sister-in-law Phillis Emig of Kalamazoo. His two children James (Michelle) Emig of Lawton, Ok. and Michelle (Brett) Beachum of Hart, Mi. Grandchildren Lillian (Faith), Stephen, Dylan, Alyx, Ayden and Avery; Great grandchildren Chloe and Max.

No funeral or memorial service is planned at this time.
