Joan Marie (Thomas) Elwood, age 67, was born on December 4th, 1952, to Kenneth Doyle and Pauline Thomas in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and went to be with the Lord, March 29th, 2020 at 8:50am.

Joan had a passion for animals and worked with thoroughbreds, traveling all over for horse races.
She later moved back to Enid to help her parents at Ken's Bakery, where she made many lifelong friends, and raised her three children, Bri, Sky, and Cion.

Joan was an entrepreneur having two businesses of her own, Tortilla Flat, and Cake Castle. Her customer's would often write letters thanking her for going out of her way to make their families day special. She always went above and beyond as a mother too. Cherishing and guarding her children with her life; thru happiness and heartache, a love that spans eternal.

Joan was very witty and had an incredible sense of humor; Her kids always made her so proud; and some of her most favorite things were to hear her grandson sing, taking Finn to the dog park, and watching Northern Exposure.

On May 5th, 2016, with over a decade together, Joan married Lance Elwood. They raised many dogs, including Fox, Finn, Zoe, and Marley; taking Fox and Finn along on many vacations, with Crescent City, California being their favorite.

Joan faced life courageously, sometimes with pain, but always with a smile on her face, God in her heart, and her family by her side.

She leaves behind husband, Lance Elwood, of the home; Daughters, Bri Haws and husband Travis, Sky Monge and beloved grandson Zia Pfeiffer; Son, Cion Monge and wife Ashley. Sister, Judy Snowden and husband Ken; Brother, Gary Thomas and wife La-Ong; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Pauline Thomas, one brother Larry Thomas; and three beloved dogs, Fox, Zoe, and Marley.

Our family is heartbroken, but we are comforted in knowing, mom is waiting for us on the other side.

In lieu of flowers memorials in her name may be made to the Enid SPCA with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
