Leah JoAn (Hood) Ellison was born on the family farm near Willow, Oklahoma on August 26, 1933, into the welcoming family of parents Charlie (RC) Hood and Icie Jewel (Smoot) Hood, sister Beatrice, brothers Richard, Ray and Harold (all now deceased).
She attended school at Willow, then graduated from Ocina High School in 1951. She attended college at Abilene Christian University for two years.
She then married the love of her life, the one who made her heart go pitter patter, Larry Ellison on October 9, 1953 at the family home. They were blessed with 3 outstanding children, Susanne and husband, Charles Silk, Lisa and husband, Keith Stewart, and son, David. She stayed home with her children before returning to Southwestern State University to complete her degree, then teaching mostly 2nd grade for 24 years.
It gets even better --- 4 wonderful grandchildren arrived to make their lives even more exciting. Ashley and husband, Ryan Waddell, LaCee and husband Clint Wheat, Carson and wife, Deana Silk and Tanner Stewart. Then 5 great grandchildren Macy and Finley Waddell, Brooklyn and Crew Silk and Briggs Wheat.
They retired and moved to Elk City in 1992 and have been part of the 2nd & Adams Church of Christ family ever since. This has been their home base while enjoying many years of RVing and traveling.
