Sidney Ray Ellis, age 72 of Wayne, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Texarkana, AR. He was born October 21, 1942 in Wayne, OK. Sid was the youngest child of six children born to William Ira Ellis and Willie Beatrice (Crawford) Ellis. As a young boy growing up on a farm near Wayne, Sid learned how to work hard. Throughout his life he kept that same work ethic. At the time of his death he was on pecan harvest near Texarkana.

Sid attended Wayne schools growing up and graduated with the class of 1960. A few years later he married Linda Mills and together they raised a son, Toby. Sid remained living in the Wayne community all of his life and worked as a farmer and rancher. For the past 33 years, he had a custom pecan harvesting business and he and his crew harvested pecans throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Kansas.

On March 11, 1995, Sid married Connie Sharp. Connie had three daughters and Sid had one son, now two families became one happy hard working family. Sid loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He loved spending time with them at family get-togethers and holidays. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren�s sporting events and also enjoyed keeping up with his nieces and nephews. Throughout his life, Sid had several hobbies, rodeoing and golfing. For many years he enjoyed team roping and calf roping. In the late 1980's he designed a nine hole golf course on his farm called the "South Canadian Country Club". Sid's motto was "you gotta have fun or you gotta go home". He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a special brother and uncle. He will also be remembered as a good friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Ira and Willie B. Ellis, Brothers, Dawson, Howard and Harold Ellis;

He is survived by: Wife, Connie Ellis of the home; Son, Toby Ellis and wife Kim of Wayne; His daughters, Tara Williams and husband Donnie of McKinney, TX, Sara Kennedy of Purcell, Shea Cross and husband Nathan of Purcell; His grandkids, Kale, Cole and Averi Ellis, Bailey and Rhett Kennedy, Raydon and Stevie Williams, Morgan and Ruger Cross, Brother, Raymond Ellis and wife Zo of Wayne; Sister, Jean Green of Purcell; Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 24, 2014 at Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell.
